Needs high water quality, high levels of dissolved oxygen, and a varied diet to thrive. Omnivorous in nature. Daily fresh vegetable matter and algae pellets with weekly feeding of frozen blood worms is a good combination.
Although excellent water quality is required, the tank should not be "sterile".Driftwood is important to have in the aquarium and a good coating of algae and microfauna should be encouraged to grow on all but the main viewing panel of the aquarium.
